On the role of applied potential in adsorption of dibenzyl viologen molecules on HOPG surface

Tuning the charge carier concentration of graphene is one key challenges in field research. An effective solution for this to dope by organic molecules that physisorb or self-assemble on surface. Therefore, a comprehensive understanding their surface structures at molecular level realy nessesary. In contribution, we report role applied electrode potential adsorption/self-assembly such n-dope molecule, dibenzyl viologen (DBV), highly oriented pyrolytic graphte (HOPG) (a multi-layer material) determined using combination cyclic voltametry (CV) and electrochemical scanning tunneling microscopy (ECSTM) methods. The obtained results reveal can exist three redox states corresponding respective adsorbate phases depending potential. DBV2+ molecucles form disordered phase, whereas DBV·+ DBV0 moleucles forming dimer stacking phases, respectively, HOPG
